I was fascinated by this odd figural trade token, in the shape of a mug or chamber pot. It says it's from Lima Ohio, but I had never seen it before!
After several hours of research, I don't have a lot of info. The back says that Eli Brentlinger was the manager of the Eagle Hotel in Lima.
I found many references to our man Eli and his arrests for selling liquor without a license, from as early as 1901, up to 1934, when he was 76. He passed away two years after that.
But nowhere did the newspapers name his establishment! They called it Eli's saloon, and cafe, and soft drink place.
I couldn't even find a single mention of an Eagle Hotel in Lima. So that's it for now...
