I went to an auction last week, and was really looking forward to it. It was the 5th from the same estate, and the prior auctions had had some killer stuff. But, sigh... this one just didn't have anything for me. Don't get me wrong, there was plenty of stuff -- here are some pix:
Half of the auction was a sea of furniture in the rough -- shabby chic heaven. There was one piece I considered staying to bid on - but it was hours and hours before they would get to it, so I left it for some other lucky person. It was this wonderful ornate Victorian doorway frame -- wouldn't it make a fabulous headboard for a bed?
But my story has a happy ending. I didn't buy anything at the auction, but I stopped at an antique mall on the way home, and found this really great Salesman's Sample Book of Art Blotters -- great blank blotters that the salesman would have shown to clients, and then they would order them with their business info printed on them. The book was only $25 -- a good deal if you ask me! I just love the art work -- here are some pix -- I am sure you'll agree that my shopping had a very happy ending!
