I Shoulda Bought...

It always seems like I regret the things I didn't buy more than the the things I shouldn't have bought. Take for instance these adorable stuffed toy Steiff Bunny Rabbits. Too pricy for me, but I sure would have loved to add them to my Easter collection. I passed on them the last time I went to the Scott Antiques Show in Columbus. But we did buy this great vintage GE TV & Radio Tubes metal sign for J's collection. And we had a great time at the show. Ran into some friends, and saw some fabulous treasures. I wonder what I'll find next time? Stay tuned...

Be a Winner, not a Whiner...

The ebay world is abuzz with yesterday's announcements of the new fees, and feedback changes that will be put in place next month. Here's what I posted on the AuctionBytes blog yesterday, followed by a couple of responses to my post:

MD: "It's human nature to resist change. It's also standard business to raise prices. That's why people get income raises. It's just the way business markets work. I say quit whining, and get back to selling. If you have a low sell-through rate with the current/old fee structure, you can't blame that on fees that aren't even imposed yet. My sell-through rate is 74%. I always use gallery - a picture is worth a 1000 words! I have 100% feedback rating, after 8 years on ebay. Yes, it will now cost me more. Hopefully all you whiners will exit ebay, leaving more bidders for my auctions, so I will actually make more money in the long run. Regards -- Adair Dow ~ MS DOW ANTIQUES (ebay name msdowantiques)"

Response #1, Nina: "Well, Ms. Dow, you'll be happy to know that I WILL be leaving Ebay. But thanks for posting your User ID. I will have fun watching your pretty li'l ol' perfect FB rating go quickly down the toilet with buyers leaving you negatives at their whim. You'll be begging for mercy."

Response #2, Brian: "Ms Dow...I hope you don't come here for sympathy when your business goes to he!!"

Response #3, Liz: "I have written a grassroots email in protestation/complaint to ebay.... MS DOW SHAME ON YOU! I am a small seller of custom boutique childrens clothing and becoming a powerseller when I hand make things.... well not so easy. I will never buy from you that is for sure!"

Geez... was it something I said?

Now it's your turn...

You Never Know What You'll Get...

A while ago, we went to the Findlay Antique Bottle Club's annual Show/Sale. A great show, even if I do say so as a club member. You'd never guess what we wound up buying -- not bottles! We got the coolest vintage LONE RANGER character RADIO. Marbled plastic, with a light-up figure of the Masked Man on the front. It's in very good condition, and is a very hard to find little treasure. Just shows you, you never know what you'll get when you're out on the hunt for antiques. So get out there...

Getting My BLOG-a-rythym
